5 Wedding Disasters to Troubleshoot in Advance
I don't think there's a bride-to-be who hasn't experienced that paralyzing feeling of 'what if everything goes wrong.' The thought of your special day not going to plan can be devastating- even if it's just for a few seconds.
Well here at Cake and Lace, we get that, and we want to help you have the most beautiful day possible.
So, we've thought of a few backup plans in anticipation of these five common wedding disasters...just in case the worst happens. Let's face it, there's never any harm in being overly cautious!
So, without further ado let's dive in!
1.) Wardrobe Malfunctions
The problem: It's a tale as old as time when there are loads of fabulous outfits on the go, there's a chance of one of them suffering from a wardrobe malfunction. With your gorgeous gown, your bridesmaid's dresses and both your mother and mother in law to contend with, it's best to be prepared. Whether it be a broken zipper, a button that's fallen off, or a tear in the fabric- you want to make sure that nothing upstages your big day. The solution: Provide your maid of honor with a little emergency sewing kit. This should include needles, plain colored threads (one that matches your gown, your bridesmaid's dresses, and black and white), a small bottle of super glue (for any snapped heels), safety pins, and plasters. This mini kit should virtually contain anything you might need to keep your outfit ticking over. Alternatively, do you have a friend or a family member who's a talented seamstress? If so, make sure they're with you before you walk down the aisle for any last minute checks, and while everyone's getting ready. That way you can nip this issue in the bud before it even becomes a problem! Or, (and this may sound a tad extreme), if you're really concerned about this, and your budget allows for one, hire a professional seamstress for the day. That way you can ensure that any wardrobe malfunctions are dealt with quickly and with minimal drama.2.) Transportation Issues
The problem: You and your father/mother/bridal party/wedding party (select as appropriate!) all climb into your mode of wedding transport and begin to head to your ceremony. However, the vehicle takes you to the wrong location or breaks down. The solution: There are a few things you can do in advance to ensure this isn't an issue. First things first, you should contact your wedding transport company and ask whether they have any contingency plans of their own. For example, do they send out an emergency car if the original one breaks down? Do they do a practice run to ensure they know where the venue is? If they don't, perhaps you can explain your concerns to them and negotiate a few terms. After all, if you don't ask, you don't get. You can also prepare for this emergency by doing the following:- Making sure you or someone reliable in your wedding car knows the way to the venue. That way someone can direct the chauffeur if necessary.
- Saving a few numbers of local taxi firms and having them readily available. That way you can call them if your wedding transport lets you down completely. Obviously, this isn't ideal. However, anything's better than missing your wedding ceremony!
