Meghan proposed first, quietly and privately and totally shocked Noel. Meghan is always looking for a way to surprise Noel so she had been planning a big trip to Hawaii to commemorate the day they met. She figured that Noel might think she would propose while on the trip. So, to surprise Noel, Meghan took her out to brunch and popped the question in Washington Square park in SF. She had also planned a huge party of all of their closets friends for that evening. Once the party started, there was a gathering of 30 awesome friends for a toast and right in that moment, Noel got down on one knee and asked Meghan to marry her as well. Noel’s proposal was totally impromptu and totally public. They were opposite proposals in a way and very fitting for each person. Their fondest memory of the wedding was the ceremony. They wrote the entire ceremony themselves along with the help of their officiant; it was a labor of love. There was a section where they turned to the audience and asked for responses and it was really special to be able to take a moment, look at the crowd, and see them beaming (and responding) back at them with love.
They are science lovers at heart. Before they met at the party on Marathon Monday, they had actually crossed paths a number of times in the Boston College Biology department. Their love of science definitely inspired they “Instructional Botanicals” wedding theme.
