The couple's location, style, and the process of the wedding is extremely unique compared to typical Ohio weddings. You'll find classic, industrial, glam, and traditional themes beautifully mixed together to create a fabulous wedding day! Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration for your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day? A: I wanted our wedding to be intimate and romantic! Classy and simple. Our venue was at an old horse stable that they turned into a wedding venue. We booked our venue before they had finished it, the building was literally dirt floors. I could envision though what a magical place it could be. Q: Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY? A: My mom has a vision like no other. Most of our décor was second used. We had found all of our centerpieces on used wedding websites. They were not exactly what I had envisioned but with a little bit of paint and customization, they were amazing. Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding? A: My flowers were to die for. We had gone to flower man in Columbus and made a little bridal party making the bouquets and greenery for the centerpieces. I wanted a statement bouquet for me. I chose lots of deep pink roses light pink roses with cascading eucalyptus. Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding? A: My favorite part of our wedding day, which was not planned but was one of those moments that define us as a couple. At our ceremony, it was my turn to repeat our vows and totally blanked out. Klay was distracting me rubbing my hand and had mothed I Love you. when I didn't repeat the pastor, Klay had given me the look like HELLO Austin hahah. Our pastor had laughed and said if he were to go any slower he would be going backward. Everyone was laughing. It truly was an Austin moment. In a way, it broke the air. We were both so nervous that in that moment a good laugh is what we needed. We have a picture of that moment, it's so funny! Q: Let's talk fashion. How did you choose your wedding day look? How did the groom? Describe both looks in detail. A: I love classic fashion icons like Jackie O and Kate Middleton. I knew I wanted something timeless and very vogue looking. My dress was very structured and timeless. We choose black and white very simple and sleek. Tell us about the proposal. A: Klay and I met when I was in 8th grade!!! He was a freshman in high school and we had gone to an overnight church festival. My best friend who was in our wedding Mariah had gone to church with Klay and his family. Klay and I hid together playing "sardines" he kissed me behind the church couch! LOL. After that night he had kinda followed me for years. We would see each other at local restaurants and football games. He always made himself known to me even if I was on a date with someone else. We eventually dated seriously after high school and the rest is history...We had dated actually for 6 years before he proposed. He proposed at our house. He put a sign on our dog that said will you marry my dad. Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day? A: I think just seeing Klay for the first time. After we got married guest had gone outside and Klay and I went up-stairs to the ballroom with the photographer, it was so nice to just be together without a crowd. Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day? A: Do what YOU want to do. make your wedding day your own. It's about the couple on their wedding day and no one else. Enjoy each other! Soak it all in because that day you plan for, for so long flies by.
