Shon and John were introduced by a mutual friend in 1998. The foundation of their relationship started out as business. John was in the real estate finance business and Shon was a real estate appraiser and construction contractor. Shon and John spent many hours developing business ideas and projects that eventually led to a profitable business relationship. However, the most important development was Shon and John’s friendship that inevitably arose over the years that they worked together. Shon and John became not only business partners on various business projects but they also became best friends through the years. It was during a Christmas ski trip to Vail, Colorado in 2015 that they both decided to take their friendship to a more intimate level. They dated for several months then decided to become engaged in May 2016. Currently, Shon and John are the owners of IFWAA (Injured Federal Workers Advocate Association) and Phil and Derek’s Jazz Lounge in Houston, TX. They enjoy traveling the world, great parties, and spending time with their friends and families.
