Weddings are one of the most exciting events you will ever attend.  They are a day of celebration so that alone causes a lot of joy and excitement! Guests are always thrilled to be a part of your big day.  It is really an honor to be invited to someone’s wedding so make it fun for them.  So many people travel near and far to be with you and we think you should have the most spectacular wedding of the year (and that doesn’t have to mean spending more money!). We want to show you a few ways you can make your wedding stand out.  From special touches to show your guests you care, to fun activities that will enthrall your guests, there are SO many fun things to choose from. So without further ado, here’s the list (and we hope you’ll share your favorites with us!): Leave a blank space on the RSVP card for your friends to write in a song request. This is a really fun one.  Guests love to be involved in making your day special and when they hear their requested song pumping out, they are going to head straight to the dance floor to join in all the fun (if they aren’t already). You can leave the blank space or ask your friends personally what they’d like to hear.  I assure you it will be half the fun to see their faces light up with excitement. You can also have your DJ prepare a mash up of the most requested songs.  That is such a fun way to include everyone without hearing every single song!   Create a Newlywed Tip Jar and have it at the sign in table Most brides choose to have a wife advice area at the bridal shower and it’s always so fun to go through those later.  Why not do the same thing at your wedding and have both men and women fill out the advice cards? You’re bound to get some pretty awesome advice full of insight from people who’ve been married as long as your have (ok, maybe just a little longer) to entire lifetimes!  It would be a great little jar to keep around the house too as an encouragement and décor later on! Have a designated shoe station! Yep, you heard me.  Give your guests a place to set their shoes aside where they won’t get lost and they can go stretch out those feet on the dance floor! Feeling extra fun? Provide some flip flops for everyone to hang out in.  You can even customize them with your name and big day printed on them.  They will likely be very useful to the ladies feet as they’ve been in heels all night and can double as favors!   Bride and Groom Surprise First Dance Choose a classic song everyone knows and begin swaying… then bust out into your best salsa or hip hop moves and wow your guests with a choreographed dance. It’s just as much fun for them to watch as you to do! Just be sure to take some dance lessons beforehand.  This isn’t exactly the best point in your life to “wing it.” Come up with some fun contests! Having an ice cream bar? Give a prize to the person who can make the biggest ice cream cone. Serving popcorn? Select a winner for the person who can eat a bucket the fastest! There are so many fun ways to create contests in your wedding and your guests are sure to love each and every one of them.  They’re fun and extra exciting at a wedding! Create a fun Signature Drink It’s really popular now for a bride and groom to create a signature drink on their wedding day.  However, what if your creation is not a big hit? I guess there’s no way to know for sure, but you could try getting an idea of what people love by including a space in the RSVP card for their favorite cocktail or mocktail. After collecting everything, you can determine which is the most popular and make your drink something you know your guests will love! Nix the Wedding Cake and have a Build Your Own Dessert Bar If I could go back in time, I’d do this at my wedding.  One word: S’mores. Yep, I’d have a build your own s’mores bar.  How about a hot chocolate bar? Or say an ice cream bar?  You could even have a donut bar (frost and decorate your own donut, anybody?).  There are so many things you can do that would make for a really original and fun twist on dessert time! Wine Bottle Notes Choose a wine that you both love and will be your celebration drink on your first anniversary.  Set it up on your welcome table and have people write messages or wishes on the bottle with a silver or gold sharpie. Next year, you can remember your wedding day and all your special guests reading the messages while drinking that glass of wine! Have a Guest Map! Do you have lots of out of town guests? This would be the perfect opportunity for a guest map! Buy a simple map and lots of pins.  Lay it out and let each guest pin the spot that they traveled from.  It’s neat to see how far your family and friends have traveled in order to be with you on your big day! This is also a fun décor to have around your house.  Hang it up on your walls or frame it somehow.  It’s a really fun keepsake, that’s for sure!
